SNOW DAY!!!

Today was my FAVORITE kind of day. Beautiful heavy snow falling from the sky. It reminds me so much of "up North" where I grew up. It invigorates me and makes me want to cook, bake, clean, read a book, knit, drink chai tea-----I LOVE it. The only sad thing is----I couldn't see my grandbabies playing in the snow. That's one detriment to living up here on the Ridge. It's supposed to be in the 40's tomorrow (sigh) so I will try and get up early to enjoy the scenery as long as possible. I'm going to try and put a picture with this blog that I took of the snow today. Again. If it doesn't work I will have to do what Sherri suggests---which is to bring my pics. to her house and put them on there with her FASTER computer. Nite all. . . .

Mah Jongg Day

Today Sherri and I played Mah Jongg at Ceil's house. I just LOVE this game. And I LOVE playing with Sher, Ceil and Joy. So fun!!!! Tomorrow is our Card Club Night and I wonder if we'll have snow. I really hate to miss making cards, but then I love the snow so much. That's the "peasant" in me, my Grandma would say. Because I come from Russian/German peasant stock! And you can tell this by looking at me. Really!! For Lent I've decided (not to give up blogging like Joyeous!! HORRORS) but to give up white sugar and to walk or exercise every day---not matter how I don't feel like it. Because like my daughter----I NEVER feel like it. So I have to MAKE myself do it. Maybe by putting it into a "holy" context, it will help me keep my word. For Lent thou shall exercise daily! I just finished reading Middlesex. Has anyone else read it? I thought it was interesting and good. Right now I'm reading SONGS IN ORDINARY TIME by Mary McGarry Morris. What are you'all reading out there? I also recently read PRAY, EAT, LOVE by Elizabeth Gilbert (I think that was her last name). It was VERY interesting. It's almost 2 am and I need to get to bed. I'm very much NOT a morning person. I wish I was, but I'm not. Oh well. Good Night All........

Saturday Night

Just a note tonight. We just got back from playing cards & Dominoes. So fun, even though I rarely win. I really like the ladies I play with even though they are "old ladies" --- only one is younger than me. I've hung out with my daughter and her friends for so many years I think I'm much younger than I really am. At first it was a little strange, and weird playing with these old people, but then I found out old people can be fun too. Ha-ha. I cleanded my bedroom today, and tomorrow I'm going to clean out my closet. I'm determined to clean every room and every closet this spring. I really need to get rid of a lot of STUFF, cause I have waaaaay to much. Oh, here's a cute funny thing. Yesterday was Dean's birthday, and Caleb wanted him to have a "theme". He couldn't find "Lego Starwars" stuff, so he picked out army camoflage tablecloth, plates & napkins!! What a hoot!! Kids are just sooooo fun!

Deans Birthday

Dean had a great birthday. Lots of cards and wishes and best of all---The Karps were here to help celebrate!! Yes!! Good Times! Sherri and I tried to figure out how to post pictures with this, but it didn't work. I'll keep trying. Thank you everyone for all the comments. I so enjoy reading them all. Tomorrow we are supposed to play dominioes (me) & cards (Dean) with the golf group here on the ridge. I really really need to exercise-----and am finding it so hard. Whine, whine!! When everyone was here tonight we noticed that both the girls are almost as tall as Sherri!! Cool. But it will be really great when Noah passes everyone!! Dean's 65 now and my Dad says we can stop counting now. Haha. I think we shall. Good Night. I love you all. Really! Lynn

Dean's Birthday Tomorrow

Tomorrow is Dean's 65th Birthday. I can't believe it. The years really REALLY have flown by. Such a cliche. So TRUE. The Karps and Karpettes are supposed to be coming for a roast beest dinner, if weather is ok. If it's really bad weather, we'll do it Sat. Wish the boys were here. We went for dollar night hambergers at the clubhouse tonight, and only $4.00 + tip!! Pretty good, cause we had ff and onion rings too! Dean says we have to go every week cause it's so cheap! HA! Also says we have to start eating at the Sen. Cit. dinners b/c we can't afford NOT to. Only $3 for both of us. I remember how i laughed whenever my dad said he was going. It's really COLD here tonight, and our pellet stove needs a new fan----so our furnace is running and running. I'm going to quit rambling, just feeling a little down tonight because of our huge lack of funds and the broken pellet stove, and broken garage door, and on & on. Such is life. But boy this is therapeutic. Haha.

First Blog For Me

This is my first ever blog. Wierd to put thoughts on "paper" anyone can read. I'm 59 years old (gasp) with a 20-something sensibility-----but smarter! I'm doing this because my daughter is doing it, and some of her friends (I consider them MY friends also) do it, and because I've ALWAYS liked writing my thoughts down. When my mom died 5 years ago I wrote to her in a journal for a long time. My husband and I journal our thoughts to each other in a book. It's incredibly therapeutic I think----but somewhat daunting if others will read it. So, now what do I say? I love to read, make cards, and knit. I'm pretty lazy actually. I love spending time with my Grandkids and my daughter. I love travel----but am now in a situation where I probably won't be able to travel much if at all. That's ok, I have other blessings. Lots of Blessings. So, this will be an adventure for me and one I'm looking forward to (creating this blog). TTFN as my 11 year old granddaughter says---TTFN means ta-ta for now! See Ya Later SYL
