Hello everyone. I haven't been posting b/c I read everybody else's blogs and they all seem so FAB! Mine sounds dreary (to me). Plus, like my friend Ann, I like to get comments, and not many people seem to do that. Or maybe I'm delusional in thinking that more than 3 people read this thing. Probably so. Today Sherri & I had to run an errand in Fayetteville and we didn't have ANY kids!! They were in play-practice, and it was amazing to have all adult conversations for a few hours. Plus we got to spend "quality-time" w/each other. A fun day. And Sherri got us a treat @ Bath & Body and that's always FUN!

I'm almost done reading the current Amy Tan book, and then I'm going to read a book I got from Leah K. about the life of a Geisha---a true story. Then I'll have to read my book for our book-talk group at the library. Just looking forward to reading good books is such a glorious thing for me.

I'm getting ready to have my dad & step-mom for a few days starting on Sunday. My dad just isn't the easyies person to have around. He's very critical and judgmental. Please everyone, say a prayer for me. thanks.... I've been having trouble sleeping lately. Comes with the O.L.D., I suppose. But it doesn't matter, cause I always enjoy reading or whatever, unless I have to get up with the children (grand-children when they are here). Good Night....

I like your new format, but I really loved the charming brown you had before too. By the way, what I've discovered about comments is that most people read the blog because they love you and they have no idea about commenting. My parents and David's family NEVER leave comments but enjoy reading my blog. I have several friends that read but as far as casual blog reading.... not so much. You have 2 choices, you can either continue with a fairly private blog and enjoy the opportunity to be on line without strangers reading your life or you can open it up public and have it avaible on search engines and that is very public. I read a couple of others who have thousands of hits in a month and they don't use full names in one case but the other does and has had many, many prayers prayed over them. http://thebigmamablog.com/ is one of my favorites, but she has advertising down the side and does free giveaways. That is how you get lots of comments. I've resolved to leave this as a legacy for my children. If you do want to know though about how many hits you get, there is a little icon on my page beneath my "view my profile". You can click it and make it your own and that way you can view how many people visit, how many people return, and how many page loads and can exclude yourself. My extended family likes pictures and will visit us often on those days. Just fyi.
Enjoy blogging for your own enjoyment- otherwise no one will ever comment enough. Trust me.

Love you!
Ann

Ann gives great advice. You can use sitemeter or activemeter as well to log hits on your blog. If you want strangers reading then you need to leave thoughtful comments on other people's blogs and then they'll click through to check you out and if they like what they see they'll comment back.

I agree though that if you're going to start trying for more traffic, you should remove last names or use pseudonyms.

I think Jen at conversiondiary.com had a post a while back about how to get more traffic you might search her site.

Okay.. both of our brilliant friends are giving you good advice... but I think you just gotta blog for you. I love how OPEN Trish is on her blog. I am so not there yet. I can ponder and philosophise (I know that isn't spelled right) but to me there is something intimidating about being completely vulnerable... Still, I love to read and write and so... I will maintain for my three readers. You should too.
