is the name of the book we discussed at our "book-talk" group at the library tonight. It's written by Philip Roth---author of PORTNEY'S COMPLAINT & GOODBY COLUMBUS and others. It's a moving, somewhat depressing (but good) memoir about his relationship with his father, particulary the last year of his life. Patrimony is the legacy or birthright from father to son in the Jewish Community. This book is "real", sad, and touching. Most of us like it and thought it well-written and honest. This book was very different for this author, and he did a great job.
Sherri and I brought the snacks tonight, and after we cleaned up (they only ate her dessert b/c it was soooooo good & mine was just brownies!) we went to the sidewalk cafe for a sandwich and soda. We had such a good time gabbing we sat outside until after 10 p.m.! So fun to do stuff without kids once in awhile. Let's do it again Sherri!!
However both of the girls are in Little Rock with their "other" grandma, and we miss them terribly. I won't see them until next week! sigh...
I'm reading a David Baldacci book right now and enjoying the fluff! Hope everyone is reading great books this summer!

Which David Baldacci book are you reading? I've read 3 books this summer- I usually never read. The first was Friday Night Knit Club, a David Baldacci book that I gave my mother in love and can't remember the name and then a Tim Green book -Fourth Perimeter. All were good. Tim Green is a guy that went to school with David (couple of years older) and he writes with David's home town Skaneateles as the backdrop. Very good read. Working on the DB book The Collectors at the moment.
Mineral makeup- don't know a lot but like it. It's all powder and you just put it on with a brush. In my opinion, I think because you don't pull on your skin like with regular makeup, it gives you a flawless kind of appearance. Kind of "floats on top". I've heard that it's supposed to be good for your skin and you can sleep in it. I do sometimes because I'm tired not because I'm helping my skin. Try it.

Loved the book really. Didn't think I would.. but found it very touching.
Liked our chat at the cafe too!
I read Animal Farm today to be ready for the girls in the fall.
Wish I could read a book everyday.. but life beckons and I DID make jam.
We may need to talk to Sylvia about the make-up .. I think I would really like it.
Glad Dean's numbers were good. Honestly, we don't even discuss my father's illness anymore. I do get the info from bloodwork and checkups. It's always there but life just rolls on and it pales in comparison to what types of cancers others have. We just feel blessed. Time will help, believe me. Oddly enough, it becomes your new normal.
More blogging!
Hey, did you ever start praying the Liturgy of the Hours? Or get the Shorter CHristian Prayer book? I'd love to hear what you thought of it. If not, have to tried it online at universalis.com?
