I LOVED THIS BOOK

BEL CANTO by Ann Patchett was really good. What's odd is that the last 2 books I read took place in Italy, and this one takes place in S. America. I guess I'm liking foreign places??

It's about a fancy birthday party that takes place in the Vice-President's home of a small country in S.A.. Terrorists takes the entire party hostage and things go wrong. It lasts for months and bonds are formed and the characters forget about the real danger that has been set into motion by the taking of hostages....... and the consequences.....

"Patchett's tragicomic novel----a fantasia of guns and Puccini and Red Cross negotiations---invokes the glorious, unreliable promises of art, politics, an love." ------THE NEW YORKER

The most romantic novel in years. A strange, terrific, spell-castng story.."-----SAN FRANCISO CHRONICLE

It has everything; suspense, love, religion, poetry, & music. Fabulous!-----LYNN STRZELECKI
